Description

At a time when finance teams are increasingly partnering with the business and embracing a wider area for performance management, it is clear that many still struggle with Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics. Now that BI tools have become easier and more intuitive to use, individual departments can begin to gain the full benefits of better analytics without too much involvement of IT.

The ideal relationship between finance and IT should be a balanced partnership, in which both sides understand how what they are doing complements the other's goals and objectives. Finance needs to understand how its requirements for domain-specific financial analytics should form part of a broader business analytics strategy, while IT should understand that their strategy needs to accommodate domains "doing their own thing" in some areas. Too often, we find that the relationship is not balanced and is characterized by misunderstanding on both sides.

This insight session will explore the different types of analytics used by Finance, and how IT can make these part of a broader BI strategy.

Topics covered:

  • The New Role for Finance
  • Types of Analytics used by Finance
  • The Role of BI Teams
  • Financial Analytics as part of a broader BI strategy
