The Science of Data Visualization: Eneco Uses Analytics to Deliver a Better Customer Experience

Accelerate your learning with our Insight Sessions, which are scheduled throughout the year. Insight Sessions feature a more intimate and informal atmosphere and allow you to dive deep into the practical skills and techniques required to successfully develop and deploy your Business Analytics projects.

Topics to be covered:

In August 2011 Eneco Belgium launched on the Belgian retail market as a new provider for electricity and gas. After a period of steep growth in 2012 Eneco currently serves around 6.000 Business-to-Business connections and 300.000 Retail connections. This portfolio continues to grow.

Eneco aims to be 100% sustainable, not only with respect to energy production and supply, but also with respect to customer relations and service. This translates in a strong believe in customer intimacy and experience throughout the whole organization.

As such a decision was taken to select a standard tool that offers more advanced capabilities and would help Eneco to face challenges beyond simple reporting.

After an RFP selection process, the SAS solution was chosen including in–memory analytics and data mining. While the project has only started recently we have already obtained significant results for more efficiently translating our data in easy to understand and actionable insights.

Karolien Pas

Karolien Pas first started as business data analyst in the operational department of Nuon - now Eni - but turned to Marketing soon afterwards, gaining experience in customer intelligence in a B2C as well as a B2B environment. At bpost she further specialized in predictive analytics.

Karolien returned to the energy sector three years ago as Marketing Intelligence Manager at Eneco shortly before its launch on the B2C market and at a time when business intelligence and analytics at Eneco were still non-existing. Although there still is a long way to go, the past years did involve big steps forward in embedding analytics in the organization and in supporting Eneco's customer-oriented focus.
